The Jim Bolger-trained Lunar Space (3 g ex Luminaria by Danehill) became the 15th stakes winner for former Darley shuttler Dawn Approach (New Approach) when he won Monday’s Tetrarch Stakes (Listed, 7f) at the Curragh.

Having his eighth career start and third this season, Lunar Space beat the Joseph O’Brien-trained Magnanimous (Mehmas) by half a length. Horoscope (No Nay Never) was another three and a half lengths away in third for Aidan O’Brien.

Bred by his trainer, Lunar Space is a half-brother to dual Listed winner Paene Magnus (Teofilo) being out of unraced Danehill (Danzig) mare Luminaria. Further back this is the family of Group winners Guis Ghaire (Galileo) and Scintillula (Galileo).

Dawn Approach shuttled to Australia for five seasons between 2014 and 2018 and has sired three Group winners in Dawn Passage, Dawn Patrol and Paulele in his Australian-bred crops.

Earlier in the day at the Curragh, Broome (5 h Australia - Sweepstake by Acclamation) added a fifth stakes victory to his resume when posting a two length victory in the Mooresbridge Stakes (Gr 2, 1m2f) for jockey Ryan Moore and trainer Aidan O’Brien. Helvic Dream (Power) finished in second with the Joseph O’Brien-trained and Lloyd Williams-owned Twilight Payment (Teofilo) another four and a half lengths back in third.

Twilight Payment was having his first start since winning last year’s Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m).
