Emperor Of The Sun (4 c ex Zouzou by Redoute's Choice) - a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner and now successful Widden Stud-based sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor) - broke through at stakes level for the first time when he took out the Beg Levmoss Stakes (Listed, 1m6f) at Leopardstown on Friday and in doing so handed Coolmore Stud’s superstar stallion Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) with his 335th stakes winner.

Trained by Donnacha O'Brien, the colt was last seen finishing third in the Vintage Crop Stakes (Gr 3, 1m6f) at Navan on April 25 and he improved on that performance when beating Search For A Song - who is also by Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) - by a comfortable three and a half lengths. This season’s Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Twilight Payment - who is by a son of Galileo in Teofilo - was another two lengths further adrift in third.

The colt is out of winning Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Zouzou and she was purchased by Coolmore for $775,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2014 and her four other winners are headed by the aforementioned Zoustar, while Emperor Of The Sun is one of two winners out of the mare by Galileo, with Kondo Isami being the other.

The colt also hails from the same family as Testashadow (Testa Rossa) and Dusty Star (General Nediym).

Galileo’s progeny is headed by 89 Group 1 winners and they include Adelaide and Churchill, who both stand at Coolmore Stud and Highland Reel, who shuttles to Swettenham Stud in Victoria.
