Haunui Farm shuttler Ribchester (Iffraaj) sired his third first-crop winner courtesy of the Richard Hannon-trained Gisburn’s (2 c ex Disclose by Dansili) victory in the Casumo Horse Racing and Sports Betting Maiden (6f) at Newbury on Friday.

Last seen finishing fourth on debut over 5¼ furlongs at the same track on April 16, the two-year-old colt kept on impressively to surge to a six and a half length victory over Kingmax (Kingman), while Codify (Lawman) was a further length and a quarter away in third.

The colt was purchased by Monksland Stables for €68,000 at the 2019 Goffs Ireland November Foal Sale, before being bought by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock at the Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sales for £88,000 the following year.

Gisburn is the fourth winner out of Listed-pleased Dansili (Danehill) mare Disclose, making him a half-brother to Listed scorer Encrypted (Showcasing).

The colt’s fourth dam is Grade 1 winner Arewehavingfunyet (Sham) - the dam of Listed winner Have Fun (Topsider), while she is the grandam of Group 2 scorer Mons (Deploy) and further back she hails from the same Group 1 winner Urban Fox (Foxwedge).

Gisburn joins Ruthin and Flaming Rib as Ribchester’s other winners.

The son of Iffraaj (Zafonic) was relocated to Haunui Farm last season having stood his first two seasons in the southern hemisphere at Darley’s Kelvinside base and he will stand the 2021 season for an unchanged fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST).
