Pivotal, Protectionist and Nathaniel all add new stakes winners on Sunday
154 for Pivotal
Pivotal (Polar Falcon), who was pensioned from stallion duties at Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket earlier this year, sired his 154th stakes winner when his Johnny Murtagh-trained son Earlswood (3 c ex Fields Of Miracles by Galileo) won the Gallinule Stakes (Gr 3, 1m2f) at the Curragh on Sunday. Under jockey Ben Coen, Earlswood took the lead with 200 metres left to travel and went on to score by a length and three quarters from Arturo Toscanini (Galileo). Pivotal’s 32 Group 1 winners include dual Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Addeybb as well as triple Australian Group 1 winner Avilius.

A Listed winner previously, Baptism (4 c ex Holy Salt by Holy Roman Emperor) provided the Aga Khan Studs-based sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) with his 47th Group winner when he won Sunday’s Premio Carlo d’Alessio (Gr 3, 2400m) at Capannelle. The colt scored a two length victory over favourite Nubius (Dylan Thomas) with Keep And Love (Lope De Vega) a close third. The victory was part of a European stakes double for Sea The Stars on Sunday with his son Sea Of Sands (3 c ex Salve Haya by Peintre Celebre) taking out the Derby Trial (Gr 3, 2200m) at Hoppegarten. The Jean-Pierre Carvalho-trained colt prevailed by a head over favourite Lord Charming (Charm Spirit). Sea The Stars has sired 14 Group 1 winners and from 25 runners in Australia he has been represented by 17 winners and five stakes winners headed by Group 1 winners Fifty Stars and Shraaoh.
27 for Kendargent
The Teruya Yoshida homebred Tokyo Gold (3 c ex Biancarosa by Dalakhani) provided his sire, Kendargent (Kendor), with his 27th Group winner on Sunday when he won the Derby Italiano (Gr 2, 2200m) at Capannelle. A Listed winner at two last year, Tokyo Gold scored an impressive four length victory over Juan De Montalban (Lope De Vega).
Two for Protectionist
2014 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Protectionist (Monsun) sired his second stakes winner on Sunday when Amazing Grace (3 f ex Amabelle by Danehill Dancer) won the Diana Trial (Gr 2, 2000m) at Hoppegarten. The Waldemar Hickst-trained Amazing Grace pulled away to score a three quarter length victory over favourite Noble Heidi (Intello), with Theodora (Ito) another length and a half away in third. Protectionist’s first stakes winner was Lambo who was recently bought into by Australian Bloodstock.

The Newsells Park-based Nathaniel (Galileo) sired his 23rd stakes winner when Nationalista (4 f ex Rime A Rien by Amadeus Wolf) beat Control Tower (Youmzain) by a length in the Prix Urban Sea (Listed, 2000m) at Le Lion d’Angers. Tres Valentine (Fastnet Rock) finished another length further back in third. Nathaniel’s stakes winners are headed by multiple Group 1 winner Enable whilst his other Group 1 winners are God Given and Channel.
