The Amanda Perrett-trained Lavender’s Blue (5 m Sea The Stars - Beatrice Aurore by Danehill Dancer) when she opened her account as five-year-old in the Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 1m) at Kempton on Monday.
The mare landed the Atalanta Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) in 2019 as a three-year-old and she stayed on strongly to beat Fooraat (Dubawi) by a length and a half. Amniarix (Speightstown) was another length and a quarter away in third.
The five-year-old mare is one two winners out of Group 3 winner Beatrice Aurore and her other winner is Sing A Rainbow (Frankel) and she was purchased by New Zealand-based bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for 65,000gns at last year’ Tattersalls December Mares Sale.
Beatrice Aurore herself is out of Listed winner Mondschein (Rainbow Quest), who she is also the dam of Listed-scoring trio Sibelius (Night Shift), Vigelegere (Be My Chief) and Ray (Rock of Gibraltar).
The mare’s third dam is Listed winner River Spy (Mill Reef) - the dam of Jahafil (Rainbow Quest), while she is also the grandam of Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Hightown (Selkirk).
Lavender’s Blue is one of 74 stakes winners for Sea The Stars (Cape Cross), who is standing at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud for a fee of €150,000.
