The career of the Willie Mullins-trained and part OTI Racing-owned True Self (Oscar) is in doubt with the eight year-old mare having suffered a suspensory injury.

The mare was due to race in the US before making her way to Australia for a third consecutive spring campaign.

A winner of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 3, 2600m) at Flemington last November, True Self has placed third in both the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Gr 1, 1m2.5f) and International Stakes (Gr 3, 1m2f) this year.

“In many ways, she is a more valuable mare in Australia than Europe and with her profile, she could be a more commercial prospect here than there,” said OTI Racing’s Terry Henderson.

“However, there are others in the breeding game that know more about this than me and we will talk those things through going forward if she does retire from racing.”
