The Jessie Harrington-trained and Zhang Yuesheng-owned Magical Lagoon (2 f ex Night Lagoon by Lagunas) became stakes winner number 342 for late multiple champion sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) when winning Friday’s Flame Of Tara Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) at the Curragh.

Having his second start, Magical Lagoon was settled behind the leaders and took the lead in the closing stages to score by three quarters of a length over the Joseph O’Brien-trained favourite Albula (Galileo).  The filly was bought at last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale - Book 1 for 305,000gns by BBA Ireland and Yulong Investments and is a half-sister to multiple Group One winner Novellist (Monsun) being out of Group winning mare Night Lagoon (Lagunas), who was crowned champion two-year-old filly in Germany in 2003.

Galileo, who died last month at the age of 23, has sired 16 stakes winners this year headed by Group One winners Bolshoi Ballet, Joan Of Arc, Love and Empress Josephine.

149 for Dansili
In recording her second career victory in the Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes (Gr 3, 1m1f) at the Curragh, Acanella (3 f ex Across The Floor by Oasis Dream) became stakes winner number 149 for Dansili (Danehill).

A Juddmonte homebred, the Ger Lyons-trained Acanella kept on on the closing stages to beat Champers Elysees (Elzaam) by three quarters of a length.

The sire of 22 Group One winners, Dansili was pensioned from stud duties at Juddmonte Farm’s Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket in 2018 has sired 52 winners from 63 runners in and 25.4 per cent stakes winners to runners in Australia including Group One winning duo Foreteller and Grand Marshal.
