The John and Thady Gosden-trained Inspiral (2 f ex Starscope by Selkirk) remained unbeaten in four career starts and stepped up to Group One level on Friday when she scored a dominant victory in the Fillies' Mile (Gr 1, 1m) at Newmarket. The victory provided Juddmonte Farm's Frankel (Galileo) with his 20th Group One winner.

The Cheveley Park Stud homebred settled towards the middle of the field and made her challenge with 400 metres left to travel. She ran on well to pull two and a half lengths clear of Prosperous Voyage (Zoffany). Cachet (Aclaim) was a close third.

"Inspiral is improving with her racing and was pretty professional today," said John Gosden.

"She's a big girl but she's getting stronger all the time. We'll see how she comes through the winter as regards next year but if we have a cold one with those east winds we could go straight for the 1,000 Guineas. She'll get a mile and a quarter no problem but I don't know about a mile and a half."

Inspiral is one of four winners and the ony stakes winner out of dual Group One placed mare Starscope (Selkirk). Her third dam is Listed scorer Mystic Goddess (Storm Bird), dam of successful sire Medicean (Machiavellian), who was based at Cheveley Park Stud.

Frankel is enjoying a successful season in Europe and sits at the head of the leading sires table by earnings. He has sired 20 stakes winners in Europe this year with his prize money earnings totalling just shy of £7 million.
