Caravaggio records his first Group One winner and Wootton Bassett and Camelot add new stakes winners
Fourth Stakes Winner and First Group One for Caravaggio
Coolmore’s first season sire Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) recorded his fourth stakes winner and first Group One winner on Saturday when Tenebrism (2 f ex Immortal Verse by Pivotal) caused an upset in the Cheveley Park Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) at Newmarket. Trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, Tenebrism scored by a length over Flotus (Starspangledbanner) with Sandrine (Bobby’s Kitten) another three lengths back in third.
Tenebrism is out of dual Group One winner Immortal Verse (Pivotal) who was bought by BBA Ireland for 4,700,000gns at the 2013 Tattersalls December Mare Sale and has gone on to produce three winners, with Tenebrism her only stakes winner to date.
Caravaggio stood for a fee of US$25,000 at Ashford Stud in Kentucky this year.
