84 for Sea The Stars
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Adhafera (3 f ex Rusty Slipper by Lemon Drop Kid) became the 84th stakes winner for Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) when she won Thursday’s Prix Joubert (Listed, 2800m) at Longchamp. Last seen finishing third in the Prix Minerve (Gr 3, 2500m) at Deauville, Adhafera beat the Andre Fabre-trained Love Child (Dark Angel) by a head. The Aga Khan Stud-owned Sea The Stars is firing at a rate of 12.1 per cent stakes winners to runners and his stakes winners include 15 Group One winners and Adhafera is her sire's 17 stakes winner this season.

 

156 for Shamardal
Darley’s late sire Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) sired his 156th stakes winner on Thursday when the Andre Fabre-trained and Godolphin homebred Fleur d’Iris (2 f ex Zara by Redattore) landed the Prix d’Aumale (Gr 3, 1600m). Having her fourth career start, Fleur d’Iris beat Listed winner Zellie (Wootton Bassett) by a length and a half. The former shuttler died in April last year at the age of 18. 


 

98 for War Front
Ancient Rome (2 c ex Gagnoa by Sadler’s Wells) became the 98th stakes winner for the Claiborne Farm-based sire War Front (Danzig) when the Andre Fabre-trained colt won the Prix des Chenes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Longchamp on Thursday. The Michael Tabor, Derek Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Westerberg-trained Ancient Rome pulled away to a two length victory over Scherzo (Wootton Bassett). War Front’s progeny include 23 Group / Grade One winners including Omaha Beach who shuttles to Spendthrift and he is standing his second season in Australia this year for a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
