Silver Surfer breaks his maiden over six furlongs at Fairyhouse on Friday

Coolmore Stud’s Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) was represented by his seventh first crop winner on Friday when the Donnacha O’Brien-trained Silver Surfer (2 c ex Riskit Fora Biskit by Kodiac) broke his maiden in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (6f) at Fairyhouse.

Having placed second in his last three starts, Silver Surfer beat Shoebox King (Aclaim) by a half length with the same distance back to Schiele (Dark Angel) in third.

Silver Surfer becomes the first winner, from three foals to race, for Listed winning mare Riskit Fora Biskit (Kodiac). He has been through the sales ring twice, initially selling to Glenvale Stud for 78,000gns at the 2019 Tattersalls December Foal Sale and the following year he was bought by MV Magnier for 100,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

His second dam is Miss Brief (Brief Truce) who produced six winners including Crown Prosecutor (Exceed And Excel) who raced in Hong Kong as Bullish Champion.

Caravaggio heads the first season sires table in Europe by prize money and now sits third in the table by winners behind Ardad (Kodiac) (11) and Cotai Glory (Exceed And Excel) (10). The son of Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) shuttled to Australia for just one season in 2018 when he covered a book of 143 mares.
