Melbourne Cup winner now based at Kenmare Castle Stud
The first foal by Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) winner Rekindling (High Chaparral) was born at William Fox's Kenmare Castle Stud earlier this week. The colt is out of La Protagonista (Night Shift), who is already the dam of two winners in hurdle winner Across The Line (Fame And Glory) and Ben Rumson (Ask), who won six times on the flat.
La Protagonista is a half-sister to the Classic-placed three-part siblings Unsung Heroine (High Chaparral) and Khalifa Sat (Free Eagle), who stands at Lacken Stud in Ireland.
Rekindling is the first stallion to stand at Kenmare Castle Stud. He was trained by Joseph O'Brien to win the Melbourne Cup in 2017 and his stud fee is advertised as private.
