Mer De Glace (Rulership) - a brilliant winner of the 2019 Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) - will take up stud duties in Turkey.

The son of Rulership (King Kamehameha) was retired last month after failing to recover from an injury he sustained in the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m).

Mer De Glace won eight of his 19 starts, headed by his Caulfield Cup victory, while in his native Japan the entire landed three races at Grade 3 level. Mer De Glace earned $5,689,166 in prize-money.

The son of Rulership (King Kamehameha) is one of four winners and the only stakes winner out of three time-winning Sunday Silence (Halo) mare Glacier Blue.

Glacier Blue is herself a daughter of the unraced Blue Lustre (Nureyev), making her a half-sister to Listed winner Grass Bomber (Machiavellian).

Further back Mer De Glace is from the same family as Group 2 scorer Blue Note (Habitat) - the dam of Group 1 winners Zieten (Danzig) and Blue Duster (Danzig).

Blue Note is also the grandam of Group 2 scorer Western Hymn (High Chaparral) and Group 3 winners Fantasia (Sadler's Wells) and Pink Symphony (Montjeu).
