Unraced Oasis Dream 3-year-old Citation One tops day 2.

Citation One tops day 2. Unraced Oasis Dream 3-year-old Citation One topped the second day of the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale on Sunday when bought for €200,000 by Blackstone Farm. 

Offered in foal for the first time to Mastercraftsman, Citation One is out of dual Listed winner Chantra making her a half-sister to German Group 3 winner Calyxa and stakes placed filly Clear For Take Off. 

"We'll bring her over to the States and she'll probably go to Justify next year," said American-based Christian Black of Blackstone Farm. "She has a great German pedigree and is a very nice mare with lots of charisma. We're delighted to have her." 

The second top lot on Sunday was a filly foal by Wootton Basset who was bought by Philipp Von Stauffenberg for €190,000. The January-born foal is the fifth foal out of winning mare Green Diamond Lady making her a half-sister to the Listed winner Lady Galore. Her second dam is the dual Grade 1 winner Spain. 

"She's a very nice filly, and a half-sister to a Stakes winner, said Stauffenberg. She'll be re-sold next year." 

Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock bought stakes-placed Reliable Man mare Viva Gloria for €75,000. The 4-year-old is out of the winner and Listed placed mare Vive La Reine and further back this is the family of the Irish 1000 Guineas (Group 1) and English Oaks (Group 1) winner Valoris. 

Overall on Sunday, 204 of the 259 lots offered were sold at a clearance rate of 79%, up from 74% a year ago when 199 of the 268 lots offered were sold. The average rose 30% this year, up from €26,585 in 2018 to €34,512 this year, while the average jumped from €22,000 to €26,000, an increase of 18%. The aggregate showed the biggest increase however, up 33% from €5,290,500 in 2018 to €7,040,500.
