4 stallions die at Haras Barlovento. The Lieutenant, a half-brother to Coolmore shuttler Justify, Cyrus Alexander, Timely Advice and Kung Fu Mambo were all killed at Haras Barlovento in Cañete, Peru on Saturday.

Intruders made their way onto the farm in the evening and after incapacitating the night watchman killed the 4 horses.

The farm's owner Boris Schwartzman posted on Instagram: "With lot of pain, we share the sad news of the murder of the four stallions of Barlovento recently at our farm in Cañete.

"They reduced the watchman and went straight to kill Cyrus Alexander, The Lieutenant, Timely Advice, and Kung Fu Mambo. They had one intention and they have succeeded."

By Street Sense, The Lieutenant is a half-brother to Triple Crown winner Justify. He had stood the southern hemisphere season at Haras Barlovento and was due to return to Sequel Stallions in New York for 2020. Also killed was Grade 3 winner Cyrus Alexander, a son Medaglia d'Oro who was a US$1,700,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase who went on to be trained by Jerry Hollendorfer for Spendthrift Farm and Stonestreet Stables.
