The Australian-bred Hudoo Magic (5 g ex Hudoo by Halling) came from the clouds to win the Charity Mile (Gr 2, 1600m) at Turffontein and in the provided Coolmore Stud-based sire Choisir (Danehill Dancer) with his 97th stakes winner.

The Brett Crawford-trained five-year-old gelding was having his 18th career start came home strongly to beat Charlie (Trippi) by three-quarters of a length, while Youcanthurrylove (Gimmethegreenlight) was a further nose away in third.

Purchased by Form Bloodstock for $60,000 at the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the five-year-old gelding is one of four winners out of the winning Halling (Diesis) mare Hudoo.

Hudoo herself is a sister to 2008 Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner All The Good (Diesis). The gelding’s third dam is 1978 Musidora Stakes (Gr 3, 1m2f) winner Princess Of Man (Green God) - the dam of dual Group 1 winner Ramruma (Diesis) and Listed-winning duo Royal Scimitar (Diesis) and Ausherra (Diesis).

Ausherra herself is the dam of Group 2 winner Strategic Prince (Dansili) and Listed scorer Yorkshire (Generous), while the gelding also shares the page with dual Group 1-winning filly Montefilia (Kermadec).

Hudoo was covered by Widden Stud’s new sire Zousain (Zoustar) this season. Choisir stands for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
