Cross The Ocean wins at Jebel Ali on Friday
Darley shuttler Frosted (Tapit) chalked up his 13th northern hemisphere-bred first-crop winner on Friday as the well-related Satish Seemar-trained Cross The Ocean (2 c ex Folklore by Tiznow) made a winning debut over 1200 metres at Jebel Ali.
The two-year-old colt came out on a top of a close finish to get the better of Uncle Hamed (Tapiture) by a nose, while Tahdeed (Tamarkuz) was another length and a quarter further away in third.
Cross The Ocean was purchased by Kings Equine for US$45,000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and he is out of 2005 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (Gr 1, 8.5f) winner Folklore (Tiznow), who is a grandam of unbeaten Japanese superstar Contrail (Deep Impact).
Folklore herself is a half-sister to Listed winner Divided Attention (A.P. Indy) and stakes-placed mare Delightful Quality (Elusive Quality) - the dam of this year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (Gr 1, 8.5f) winner Essential Quality (Tapit).
Frosted’s Australian-bred progeny is headed by this season’s Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (Listed, 1000m) winner Ingratiating and the stallion is covering his fourth book of mares at Darley’s Northwood Park base at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
