Al Tariq prevails in Jebel Ali Sprint on Friday
Juddmonte Farms stallion Oasis Dream (Green Desert) sired his 123rd stakes winner on Friday as the Doug Watson-trained Al Tariq (5 g ex El Cuerpo E l'Alma by Harlan's Holiday) landed the Jebel Ali Sprint (Listed, 1000m).
Last seen finishing fifth over 1400 metres at Meydan, the five-year-old gelding clearly appreciated the drop back in trip, finishing off strongly to beat Fanaar (Dark Angel) by a length and a quarter, while Alkaraama (War Front) was a further three lengths away in third.
Bred in France, Al Tariq was purchased by Bemart Bloodstock for €135,000 at the Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale in 2017, before being bought by ITC for €150,000 at the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale the following year.
The gelding is out of El Cuerpo E l'Alma (Harlan’s Holiday), making him a half-brother to Group 2-placed Lehaim (Siyouni).
The gelding’s third dam is Yarn (Mr Prospector), who produced dual Group 1 winner Minardi (Boundary), Grade 2 scorer and successful sire Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat), while this is also the family of multiple Group 1 winner and sire Johannesburg (Hennessy).
Oasis Dream will stand at Banstead Manor in Newmarket for a fee of £20,000 in 2021.
