Group 1 winner Hellbent retired to Yarraman Park to stand alongside his father I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) with winner of seven of his 23 starts, including one victory at Group 1 level.

Hellbent kicked off his career with Goldburn-based trained Kurt Goldman, for whom he won his first and only start as a two-year-old at Canterbury.

He opened his account on his first start as a three-year-old when winning the Ranvet Handicap (1200m), before running third in the Brian Crowley Stakes (Listed, 1200m), while two starts later he finished second in the lucrative Inglis Sprint (1100m).

Hellbent was moved to trainer Darren Weir at the beginning of his four-year-old season and he was unlucky not to win a stakes race, with his near misses including second on the William Reid Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).

After being kept in training as a five-year-old, Hellbent finally got his day in the sun when beating Thronum (Snitzel) in the 2018 William Reid Stakes, which proved to be his final start.

The stallion is out of winning Volksraad (Green Desert) mare Volkaspray making him a brother to three-time winner Hulk, while further back this is the same family as Group 2-placed Platinum Angel (Snitzel).

Hellbent had eight weanlings sell in 2020 for an aggregate of $518,500 at an average of $64,812.
