The late Aquis Farm-based stallion Spill The Beans (Snitzel) was represented by his first stakes winner as his son Tellall (3 g ex Devil's Angel by Danehill Dancer) took out the Trevor Eagle Memorial (Listed, 1500m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.

The Tony Pike-trained gelding came into the race in search of a hat-trick of victories and he managed to secure that feat when beating Helsinki (Savabeel) by a comfortable length and a half, while Fleetwood Maca (Rock 'N' Pop) was a further head away in third.

"He looks pretty progressive and very professional so it's onwards and upwards from here," Pike said.

"He has good early speed and then can switch himself off so that takes a lot of luck out of the equation.

"He is quite deceptive in that he is a big, strong individual who gets down low in his galloping action so he can give the impression there is not that much to him.

"He handled the weight well and once he got to the front it was pretty much game over at that stage."

Tellall holds entries for the Levin Classic (Gr 1, 1600m) and the New Zealand Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) later in the summer, but Pike was unwilling to make plans on race day.

"I'll see how he pulls up before we make any more plans for him as I do want to keep his races spaced," he said. "I think at this stage we will look at the Auckland Guineas at Ellerslie on New Year day and then go from there.

"He's not really bred to get a Derby trip but it wouldn't surprise me if he did as if they are going to run the mile and a half, they can do that as a three-year-old."

Purchased by Paul Willetts Bloodstock for $45,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the Kenmore Lodge draft, the gelding is one of three winners out of the placed Danehill Dancer (Danehill) mare Devil's Angel and he becomes the first stakes winner in three generations of his family.

The gelding's fourth dam is Listed winner Purple Maze (In The Purple) and she is the grandam of fellow stakes scorer Pantenny (Canny Lad) - the dam of Group 3 winner Thames Court (Commands).

Crowned champion first season sire by number of winners in Australian last season, Spill The Beans' total number of winners count stands at 27 and he died in November last year.
