On The Bubbles gets off the mark at Awapuni
Darley Stud-based sire Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) looks to have a talented juvenile among his progeny as the Jamie Richards-trained On The Bubbles (2 g ex More Bubbles by Sebring) made a winning debut at Awapuni on Saturday - leading home quinella for the stallion.
The two-year-old gelding came out on top of a blanket finish to beat Brazen Blue (Brazen Beau) by a head, while Dragon Biscuit (Choisir) was a further nose away in third.
Purchased by B Kwok and Bevan Smith for $60,000 at the 2019 Inglis Great Southern Weanling and Bloodstock Sale from the Burnewang North Pastoral draft, while he was then bought for Te Akau supremo David Ellis for $90,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling the following year.
The two-year-old gelding is out of placed Sebring (More Than Ready) mare More Bubbles, who was herself purchased by Steve Brem and Burnewang North for $100,000 at the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Weanling and Bloodstock Sale when carrying On The Bubbles in utero.
More Bubbles herself is a half-sister to 2015 Myer Classic (registered as Empire Rose Stakes) (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Politeness (Street Sense).
Further afield, the gelding’s third dam Mythos (Imperial Prince) produced dual Group 2 scorer Thackery (At Talaq) and Listed scorer Fairytales (Night Shift) - the dam of Group 2 scorer Parables (Lonhro).
This year More Bubbles produced a colt by fellow Darley stallion Impending (Lonhro) and was covered by Darley shuttler Frosted (Tapit) in October.
Brazen Beau has seven lots catalogued for next month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
