Sistema Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Sword Of State (Snitzel) will not travel to Sydney, where his intended target had been the ATC Inglis Sire’s Produce (Gr 1, 1400m) on April 10, and instead be sent for a spell.

Te Akau Racing said on Friday that the son of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) would be spelled after missing a vital outing at Taupo on Thursday when the trial meeting was called off due to concerns about the track surface.

Meanwhile, Sword Of State’s stablemate On The Bubbles (Brazen Beau) who finished second in the Sistema Stakes will continue his preparation in Saturday’s Manawatu Sire’s Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) at Awapuni.

The son of Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) broke his maiden at Awapuni on December 19 and then won his next two starts including the Karaka 2YO Millions (RL, 1200m).

“He ran a good race for second in the Sistema last start, and he seems to be improving as we get deeper into this preparation,” trainer Jamie Richards said.

“He did some nice work this (Tuesday) morning. I’m not 100 percent sure how he’ll go on rain-affected ground, but I get the impression he’ll get through it okay.

“He’s made this trip before and is a previous winner at the course, so he knows what he’s in for this weekend and has a few things in his favour.”

Jamie Richards had enjoyed a very successful season with his juveniles winning 19 races and of the ten stakes races run in New Zealand for two-year-olds so far this season, the stable has won six.
