Saturday's New Zealand Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Amarelinha (Savabeel) has been crowned the 2020-21 New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year.

The daughter of Savabeel (Zabeel) finishes the NZB Filly of the Year Series with 34 points – 19 clear of her nearest rival. Overall, she has won five of her seven starts, placing in the other two and earning $518,700 for the Te Akau Hopskip'n'jump Syndicate.

The winner of the Eight Carat Classic (Gr 2, 1600m), David & Karyn Ellis Fillies' Classic (Gr 2, 2000m) and Sunline Vase (Gr 3, 2100m) earlier in the NZB Filly of the Year Series, Amarelinha was expected to dominant Saturday's Group 1 event and she delivered in spades, finishing a comfortable length ahead of her nearest rival - Charms Star (Per Incanto).

Amarelinha is the sixth NZB Filly of the Year in the last 15 years for the powerful Te Akau Racing stable, following on from Costa Viva (Encosta de Lago), King's Rose (Redoute's Choice), Insouciant (Keeper), Princess Coup (Encosta de Lago) and Shikoba (Chief Bearhart).
