A colt by one-time shuttler Night Of Thunder topped day 2 of the Goffs November Foal Sale Park 1 on Tuesday. Offered by Awbeg Stud as lot 305 the colt, who is out of the 3-time winner Southern Belle, was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for €135,000.

Night Of Thunder, a son of Dubawi, shuttled to Australia for 1 season in 2016 where he covered 96 mares. 

On a day when 6 lots made €100,000 or more the second highest-priced lot of the day was a colt by Wootton Basset who was bought by Stauffenberg Bloodstock for €130,000.

Sold by Altenbach Bloodstock as lot 439 the bay colt is the first foal out of the Kitten's Joy mare Holy Cat. 

Rosemont Stud's Starspangledbanner provided the second highest-priced lot on the opening day of the sale and on Tuesday another son sold well when lot 281 was purchased by Paca Paca Farm for €110,000.

The colt is the second foal out of the dual winner Scarlet Pimpernel who is herself a half-sister to the Group winner Scarlet Runner. Overall on Tuesday 196 of the 231 lots offered sold for €6,588,200 at an average of €33,613 and median of €26,000.

In the corresponding session last year, 174 lots sold for €5,628,500 at an average of €32,348 with the median at €26,000. Part 1 of the sale concludes on Wednesday.
