A filly by Ashford Stud-based sire Practical Joke (Into Mischief) was the headline act on the first day of the Craven Breeze-Up Sale on Tuesday as Alex Elliott, who was working on behalf of Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm, went to 360,000 gns to secure the Tally-Ho Stud-consigned two-year-old.

Catalogued as Lot 71, the filly is out of one-time winner Purr And Powl (Purim) and she is herself a half-sister to Listed-winning duo Arch Rebel (Arch) and On My Dime (Mizzen Mast).
"She is as good a filly as I have had to breeze," said Roger O'Callaghan of Tally-Ho Stud "She has been a genuine natural from the start. I bought her at Keeneland November as a foal with Archie St George (St George Sales at Brookstone Farm] she didn't make the yearling sale, and we brought her here. The sire line through Into Mischief is magic."

Elliott said the filly would now head into training with Chad Brown.

"She is a beautiful filly and she is going back to the US and to Chad [Brown], who trained Practical Joke," said Elliott. "She has been very highly thought of from Day 1, Roger has raved about her all along. I am delighted to get her, I think she is a perfect filly to go back to the States.

"She is a May foal, she is going to need a bit of time, but she is the one. She did everything. She is a typical Craven Sale type – scopey with quality and will need bit of time, but the more time I think you can give them, the better they can be."

Elliott added of the sire, whose first crop are two-year-olds of this year: "The two-year-old guys in Florida were raving about Practical Joke all winter – it is one thing then to go and do it, and they seem to be doing it.”

The filly was bought for US$185,000 at the 2019 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Earlier in the evening, a filly by former Darley Stud shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) was purchased by Cool Silk Partnership / Stroud Coleman Bloodstock from the Star Bloodstock draft for 265,000 gns.

Catalogued as Lot 50, the filly is out of Oasis Dream (Green Desert) Militate, who is herself a daughter of Group 3 winner Orford Ness (Selkirk), making her a sister to Group 3 winner Main Aim and a  half-sister to Group 2 winner Weightless (In The Wings) and Listed scorer Home Affairs (Dansili).
