Group 1-winning mare Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock) is the headline act of the early entries for the Inglis Chairman's Sale.

The select sale, which will be conducted at Riverside Stables on the evening of May 8, will again be held under a 0 per cent sales commission structure.

Unforgotten has won six of her 21 career starts, including the Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) and a brace of Group 2 victories, while she also finished in the placings at elite level on four occasions which saw her accumulate $1,563,895 in career earnings.

The five-year-old mare is back in work with Chris Waller and she will most likely resume in the Emancipation Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) at Rosehill on March 28.

Purchased by Waller for NZ$360,000 at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale from the Curraghmore draft in 2016, the mare is out of Galileo (Sadler's Wells) mare Memories Of You, who is herself out of Listed-winning Group 1-placed mare Most Precious (Nureyev).

Most Precious is the dam of four winners, including Grade 1 winner Matiara (Bering), Group 2-winning pair Pyrus (Mr Prospector) and Marathon (Desis) and Listed winner Precious Ring (Bering), while she is also the grandam of Warrnambool Cup (Listed, 2350m) winner High Church (High Chaparral).

"It's easy to talk up a horse who has won at Group 1 level but when people see her she's got size, she's got strength, she's got the temperament and she's got those bloodlines that everyone's desperate for and that's the combination of Fastnet Rock and Galileo bloodlines that have done the job,'' Waller said.

"She's a great horse to train because she's got power, she could cope with her early life of being a three-year-old in Group 1 races and backed it up as a four-year-old in weight-for-age races. She made a name for herself.''

Meanwhile, Group 1 performers Arabian Gold (Dubawi) - offered in foal to Yarraman Park's superstar stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) - and Volks Lightning (Volksraad), who will go under the hammer in foal to Widden Stud-based sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor) also feature among the early entries for the boutique sale.

Celebrity Dream, who is in foal to Triple Crown-winning Coolmore shuttler Justify (Scat Daddy) and Group 2-winning mare Noire (Foxwedge) are also catalogued for the sale.

Noire, who is also trained by Waller, is a half-sister to the dam Group 3 winner and Golden Slipper (Gr 1, 1200m) fancy Global Quest (More Than Ready), from the family of stakes winner Timbourina (Timber Country) and Media (Gilded Time).

Waller said: "She's a very good horse Noire. She never had a lot of luck in the Group 1s and I'm really disappointed she has not yet got a Group 1 placing at least because she really does deserve that.''

Last year's sale finished with an incredible average of $422,455 at a clearance rate of 93 per cent, it also produced the most expensive pregnant mare to sell at public auction in the southern hemisphere in 2019 in Loving Gaby's (I Am Invincible) dam Maastricht (Mastercraftsman), after she was purchased by Coolmore and James Bester Bloodstock for $2,250,000, having been offered through the Newgate Consignment on behalf of owners Ananda Krishnan and Alan Bell.

Maastricht was one of two mares to sell for $2 million or more at The Chairman's Sale, with Tom Magnier purchasing multiple Group 1 winner Srikandi (Dubawi) from the Kitchwin Hills draft for $2 million.

At the conclusion of the 2019 breeding stock sales season, the Inglis Chairman's Sale was responsible for three of the top four prices achieved for pregnant mares in Australasia at auction during the calendar year, while high-class race mare Aloisia sold for $1.2m to become a fourth $1m+ lot at the sale.

Inglis' NSW Bloodstock Manager Chris Russell said: "The Chairman's Sale had a special feel to it in 2019 and we are determined to build further on the concept in 2020.

"The opportunity to sell a mare of the quality of Unforgotten is a great compliment to the sale and we are hugely grateful to her owners for entrusting her with us.

"Interest in the sale has been unbelievably strong and we will continue to work with filly and mare owners across Australasia over the next few months to put together a catalogue that will get investors domestically and internationally really excited."

Places in the 2020 renewal of the Inglis Chairman's Sale are limited, so interested parties are encouraged to submit any entry to Inglis via inglis.com.au or contact a member of the Inglis Bloodstock Team.
