Aga Khan Studs-consigned filly bought by BBA Ireland.

Sheranda, a four-year-old daughter of Siyouni (Pivotal) from the draft of the Aga Khan Studs, topped the second and final day of the Goffs February Sale on Wednesday when bought by BBA Ireland for €220,000 /A$358,315. 

Catalogued as Lot 513,  Sheranda was placed twice as a three-year-old last year and is out of the Group 3 winner Shareen (Bahri), the dam of four winners headed by dual Group 2 winner Shamreen (Dubawi) and Group 3 winner Shamroze (Holy Roman Emperor). 

Another from the draft to sell well was Hazakiyra (Camelot) who was sold for €150,000 / A$244,305 and again bought by BBA Ireland. Offered as Lot 430, Hazakiyra won at three last year and is a half-sister to Group-winning Hazapour (Shamardal) being out of Listed winner Hazarafa (Daylami) who is herself a half-sister to the Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner and sire Harzand (Sea The Stars) and Australian stakes winner Haripour (Shamardal). 

BBA Ireland was also responsible for purchasing the days second top lot having spent €200,000 /A$325,741 on Hergame (Motivator). Sold as Lot 450 by Grange Hill Stud, the five-year-old mare was a winner at two and Listed placed in France. She is out of the French Listed winner Kayaba (Anabaa) who produced two other winners including the Group 3 winner Yakaba (Motivator). Further back this is the family of multiple Group 1 winner Sendawar (Priolo). 

The 2020 figures were down on those achieved at the 2019 sale. This year 292 of the 450 lots offered were sold as a clearance rate of 65 per cent compared to in 2019 when 264 of the 386 lots offered were sold at a clearance of 68 per cent. The aggregate rose 2.5 per cent from €3,976,150 /A$6,475,975 to €4,077,700 /A$6,641,370. The average however fell seven per cent, down from €15,061 /A$24,529 to €13,956 / A$22,730 whilst the median showed the biggest decrease, down 19 per cent from €8,000 /A$13029 to €6,500 / A$10,586.
