Tyreel Stud owner Linda Monds was celebrating on Sunday after she sold a filly by Coolmore Stud stallion Pierro (Lonhro) for $210,000 to John Foote at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

The filly is the first foal out of Dizzy Diva (Starspangledbanner), who Monds purchased for $100,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Broodmare Sale and she was delighted with the result.

"I had a decent reserve on her and I think she's an absolute athlete in the making. She's absolutely beautiful from a very good family," said Monds.

"We bred her to Pierro for a reason and the product we just sold was exactly what we wanted for her."

Monds has high hopes for the mare and is confident she will prove to be a very high-class producer in time.

"I am very proud that John Foote saw exactly what I saw in her. She's going to Melbourne owner and is staying in Australia, which makes me happy. I owned the broodmare Dizzy Diva and I think this filly is going to put that mare on the map."

Pierro has enjoyed a good season thus far siring eight stakes winners headed by Group 1-winning pair Regal Power and Shadow Hero, while the stallion is the sire of 21 stakes scorers in total.

"He is having an incredible year and I really don't think you can go wrong with a stallion like Pierro, who can get runners at all distances," said Monds. "I love the stallion and credit to Coolmore and the investors in that stallion, who is just doing a great job."

The stallion has proved a winning formula for the family with the filly's third dam producing VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Pinot.

The family also includes Group 1 winners Dizelle (Zabeel), Danelagh (Danehill) and Hong Kong Horse of the Year Vengeance Of Rain (Zabeel), while Listed winners Dizlago (Encosta De Lago) and Bernicia (Elusive Quality) also appear in the pedigree.

Foote, who bought the filly for an undisclosed Victorian client, said they would not rush the filly.

"We'll let her tell us about that. She'll probably be trained in Melbourne," said Foote. "I don't know what Pierro's service fee will be this year, but it will probably be over $100,000."
