Former Macedon Lodge trainer Liam Howley, who was working on behalf of 3 Point Bloodstock, signalled a return to the training ranks as he snapped up a filly by Juddmonte Farms-based stallion Frankel (Galileo) for $300,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale on Sunday.

Howley, the former private trainer for prominent Melbourne owner Lloyd Williams from his Macedon Lodge base during an eight-year association, said the filly had been purchased for a new client.

“She was bought for a new client and we will take our time with her. She will take a bit of time, but there was a good result for the stallion (with Hungry Heart on Saturday),” Howley said.

“The plan is to go out on my own at some point in the next little bit of time, so I will put plans in motion in the next few months.

“Where that base would be, it would work itself out, but I’ll be based in Victoria. It’s where I want to be.”

Catalogued as Lot 39 and offered as part of the Esker Lodge draft, the British-bred filly is out of Azardi (Desert Prince) making her a half-sister to Villiers Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) winner All Legal (Al Maher).

Azardi herself is a half-sister to Hong Kong Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Glorious Days (Hussonet) and Listed-winning pair Bangalore Bullet (Hussonet) and Spurcent (Flying Spur).

Meanwhile, Frankel’s credentials as a stallion were on show at the Randwick on Saturday with Hungry Heart bringing up his 50th stakes winner - third in Australia - when she landed the Sweet Embrace Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m).
