Given his association with multiple Group 1-winning mare Sunlight (Zoustar) it was no surprise to see co-trainer Tony McEvoy got to $160,000 for a filly by the Widden Stud resident Zoustar (Northern Meteor) at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

However, McEvoy said the filly did not remind him of his Coolmore Stud Stakes (registered as Ascot Vale Stakes) (Gr 1, 1200m) winner, but of another daughter of the son of Northern Meteor (Encosta De Lago) he trains - Zoulah - who was last seen breaking her maiden at Ballarat in February.

"Of course I love Zoustar and she was very different to my star mare Sunlight, she had a lot of scope and reminded me a lot of a filly I trained called Zoulah, who ran really well the other day and who I think is up to black-type standard," said McEvoy, who bought the filly with his bloodstock agent Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock.

"She is just a beautiful flowing filly with a lot of scope and looked to have a bit of class to me. I have seen her five times and her temperament has stayed the same the whole way through. Zoustars can be a bit feisty and I think this filly was just gorgeous."

McEvoy was also quick to praise vendors Armidale: "The mare has already proven herself and Armidale Stud they are doing a tremendous job and I am very happy to support those guys, they presented this filly in tremendous order and I am very pleased to be taking her home."

Catalogued as Lot 35, the filly is out of three-time winner Phyl's Choice (Savoire Vivre), whose three foals to race have all been winners.

Phyl's Choice herself is out of Royal Egypt (Poacher's Moon), who is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Dance Of Egypt (Amyntor) and the dams of Listed-winning pair Brainpower (Grand Royale) and Lake Sentenia (California Dane).

McEvoy and Belmont Bloodstock finished the day as buyers, snapping up four yearlings for a gross of $425,000 at an average of $106,250.
