Long term plans for I Am Invincible filly .

Seamus Mills was looking to the longer term with the filly by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) he purchased for $450,000 early in the day at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale - which kicked off online on Tuesday. 

The virtual got off to a strong start and the filly, who is the second foal out of Group 3-placed Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Lady Sharapova, was one of the highlights early on in the day. 

Lady Sharapova herself is a three-quarters-sister to Listed-placed Papillon (Rock Of Gibraltar), while the filly's third dam is Oceanfast (Monde Bleu) - the dam of champion racemare Alinghi (Encosta De Lago) and Slice Of Paradise (Encosta de Lago), who in turn produced Group 3 winner and ill-fated Arrowfield sire Beneteau (Redoute's Choice). 

The filly was offered by Coolmore Stud and catalogued as Lot 14.

"It is a bit of a surreal experience this - it is the new way of doing things," Mills commented about the online format.   

Explaining his inspection process, Mills continued: "I went round all the farms and had a list of about 120 fillies and I guess instead of coming back and doing seconds and thirds I kept the fillies out that I really liked for longer. 

"I had a good look at this filly and then the guys at Coolmore were nice enough to bring her out on her own and I snuck out of the back near the stables and had a properly good look at her there. Everyone was very accommodating and they let you keep them out for as long as you wanted."

Mills said he had been bought for a client who was sourcing well-bred fillies for his growing broodmare band. 

"It is a client I have had for a while and she was bought with joining the broodmare band in time and they have got some really nice fillies to retire and this will be one which we add to the list in a few years time, hopefully after she wins a nice race for us," said Mills.
