Andy Williams came out on top of a spirited online bidding battle for a Yarraman Park-consigned filly by their resident superstar sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), with the New Zealand bloodstock agent eventually landing the winning $520,000 bid for the yearling.

Catalogued as Lot 39 the filly is out of Listed-placed Redoute's Choice (Danehill) mare Lorna May, meaning she is bred on the same cross as Group 3-winning pair Houtzen and Overshare.

Lorna May herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Slipstick (Anabaa), while further back this is the family of Group 1 winner Virage De Fortune (Anabaa) and Group 3 winner Avenue (Anabaa). Meanwhile, the filly's fourth dam is the multiple Group 1-winning mare Emancipation (Bletchingly).

Williams said he had inspected the filly multiple times at Yarraman Park and had fallen in love with her during the inspections.

"We thought she was an absolute star when we saw her three or four times on the farm," said Williams. "She just kept getting better and better - she just walked like a superstar."

The agent said the filly had been purchased for some of the owners that raced Group 1 winner Brutal (O'Reilly).

"She has gone to some fantastic owners that actually raced Brutal," said Williams. "We are very lucky to get her. It is very interesting times, but we've got an I Am Invincible filly out of a Redoute's Choice mare from a big family so we are very happy."

Commenting on how he prepared for this unprecedented sale, Williams continued: "The most important thing is that the homework is done - we have vetted and scoped a lot of fillies and colts and we've seen a lot of horses a lot of times, so my priority was to be patient and wait for the horses we wanted to go through. If we got them in this market then great, but if we missed out then so be it."
