Aquis Farm pay $280,000 for mare.
Group 3 winner Miss Exfactor (Your Song) was snapped up privately by Aquis Farm for $280,000 and therefore became the new top lot at last week's Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.
Catalogued as Lot 399 and offered as part of the Jazcom Thoroughbreds draft, the mare landed the Birthday Card Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) in March and Aquis Farm's managing director Shane McGrath said the daughter of Your Song (Fastnet Rock) would now be covered by the operation's new stallion Pierata (Pierro).
"She is for Pierata, who we will be supporting heavily in his first season" said McGrath.
"She's very good-looking and fast, which are usually the right criteria for broodmare success in Australia.
"Credit to the guys at Inglis, their work didn't stop when the sale finished, and we were glad to agree a deal."
"The response to Pierata has been extraordinarily positive – I don't think there is a better looking horse retiring to stud this year – so we are very excited."
Miss Exfactor is one of three winners for Search For Fame (Quest For Fame), who is herself a half-sister to dual Group 2 winner Impaler (Dracula).
Further back this is the family of Group 3-winning trio Fiscal Fantasy (Skilled), Fair Trade (Danewin), Quilate (Bramshaw) and Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1100m) winner Jonker (Spirit Of Boom).
The sale of Miss Exfactor brings the gross of the sale past the $10 million mark, with the tally of mares sold for $100,000 or more increasing to 27 with the sale of Electric Dreams (Redoute's Choice) from the draft of Segenhoe Stud to Bromfield Park for $245,000.
The clearance rate for Sunday's sale has now risen to 72 per cent with the prospect of yet further sales to be completed in the coming days.
"We were determined to run a good series of breeding stock sales, irrespective of the conditions, and to have grossed over $33.5 million across Chairman's and the Australian Broodmare Sale is very rewarding" said Inglis NSW bloodstock manager Chris Russell.
"It hasn't been an easy few months, but we have been committed to helping vendors sell their horses, while helping buyers find horses that satisfy their demands and our team gets great satisfaction out of each and every sale that gets completed.
"We are looking forward to our series of sales in July and with those in mind, I think vendors can be confident that we are doing all we can to ensure an optimum set of results for them going forward."
