Shack’s Lil Mishap (Shackleford) was the headline act of the first session of the OBS July Sale of Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age as Donato Lanni went to secure the filly for US$375,000

Consigned by Coastal Equine LLC (Jesse Hoppel) and catalogued as Lot 15, the filly is out of Peace Queen (Indian Charlie), who is herself a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Tizaqueena (Tiznow) and Grade 2 placegetter New Trails (Medaglia d’Oro).

Further back the filly’s third dam is Grade 3 scorer Ziggy’s Act (Danzig) and stakes winner Charley Tango (Maria’s Mon).

Later on in the session, Patrice Miller paid US$350,000 for a juvenile daughter of Malibu Moon (A.P. Indy) - who was the co-fastest during Monday’s Under Tack session.

Catalogued as Lot 115 and offered as part of the Wavertree Stables draft, the filly is out of unraced Unbridled’s Song (Unbridled) mare Samsational, who is herself a daughter of Grade 1 winner Megiual (Roy), making her a half-sister to Grade 1 scorer I Want Revenge (Stephen Got Even).

Meanwhile, a son of Honor Code (A.P Indy) was the third highest-priced lot of the first session after Speedway Stable snapped up the Dark Star Thoroughbreds-consigned colt for US$340,000.

Catalogued as Lot 200, the colt is a half-brother to Listed winner Wake Up Nick (Cindago) - with the pair being out of Storm Hearted (Lion Hearted).

Further afield, this is the same family as Group 3 winner Stem The Tide (Proud Truth).

At the close of trade, OBS reported 147 horses had sold for an aggregate of US$4,788,800, compared with 204 selling for a total of US$6,119,500 during last year’s first session. The average was US$32,577 compared with US$29,998 a year ago, while the median price was US$13,000, compared to US$17,500 in 2019.
