The catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the 2020 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale are now online. Book 2 features 816 yearlings and will begin its three day run on October 12, Book 3 has 602 lots catalogued and will take place on 15 and 16 October, while Book 4 has a further 83 yearlings selling on the morning of Saturday 17th October.

Book 2 has always proved a good source of elite level winners, with Addeybb (Pivotal), who landed the Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m), purchased for 200,000gns at the 2015 edition of the sale, while this year’s Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fifty Stars (Sea The Stars) was snapped up by John Foote for 110,000gns in 2016. Other graduates include multiple elite level winner Battaash (Dark Angel) and Sussex Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Mohaather (Showcasing), who it was announced on Tuesday had been retired having been found to have a bone bruise.

This year’s catalogue features full or half-siblings to an impressive 174 Group and Listed winners including a half-brother by Little Avondale shuttler Time Test (Dubawi) to last year’s Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Star Catcher (Sea The Stars) and the Australia (Galileo) three-quarters brother to Irish Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Treasure Beach (Galileo).

In addition there are 110 sons and daughters of Group and Listed winning mares catalogued, including a Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) filly out of Matron Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Chachamaidee (Footstepsinthesand), the Kodiac (Danehill) colt out of the E P Taylor Stakes (Gr 1, 10f) winner Fraulein (Acatenango) and the Aclaim (Dark Angel) filly Chibola (Roy), dam of this year’s Coventry Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) winner Nando Parrado (Kodiac), who finished second in the Prix Morny (Gr 1, 1200m) in Deauville on Saturday.

Tally Ho Stud’s Group 1-producing Kodiac leads the way numerically with 40 yearlings catalogued, while Consistent Group 1 sires Dark Angel (Acclamation), Lope De Vega (Shamardal) and former Haunui Farm shuttler Showcasing (Oasis Dream) have 25, 18 and 31 yearlings catalogued respectively, while leading second season sire and former Darley Stud shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) has 23 yearlings set to go through the ring.

Book 3 of the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which follows immediately after Book 2, takes place Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October and numbers 602 lots. Book 4 comprises an additional 83 lots and will take place on the morning of Saturday 17th October. All of the yearlings in Books 3 and 4 of the October Yearling Sale are eligible for the ever-popular £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.

Commenting on Books 2, 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “Both the highest rated colt in Europe, Mohaather and the highest rated sprinter in Europe, Battaash, were purchased at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and Book 3 has also had another outstanding year demonstrating the consistent quality to be found in the second week of the October Yearling Sales at Park Paddocks.

“Huge demand for places in our yearling sales has ensured catalogues of real depth and quality catering to buyers at all levels of the market from throughout the world."
