A filly by France’s current leading sire Siyouni (Pivotal) was the headline act of the final day of the Arqana Select Yearling Sale after Yann Barberot went to €290,000 for the yearling from the draft of Monceaux, the draft that was responsible for the top two lots earlier in the sale.

Offered as Lot 467 the filly is out of the unraced mare Special Gift (New Approach) who has produced one winner to date in the now Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Global Gift (Invincible Spirit), and is herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Do The Honours (Highest Honor) being out of Listed winner Persian Secret (Persian Heights).

The filly’s third dam is the dam of Cassandra Go (Indian Ridge), a winner of the King’s Stand Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) in 2001 and the dam of Irish 1000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Halfway to Heaven (Pivotal) who went on to produce multiple Group 1 winner Magical (Galileo).

A total of 18 lots sold for €100,000 or more on Friday with the second most expensive lot being a colt by Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) who was bought by Al Shaqab Racing for €140,000. Offered as Lot 437 by The Channel Consignment the colt is the first foal out of the unraced War Front (Danzig) mare Playing Trix.

On Friday, 142 of the 179 lots offered were sold for €7,445,500. The median sat at €43,000 whilst the average was €52,433. The clearance rate on the day was 79 per cent.

Over the three day sale, 310 of the 416 lots offered were sold at a clearance rate of almost 75 per cent. The aggregate was €37,697,500 whilst the average sat at €121,605 and the median was €70,000. With a different format to 2019, comparison statistics are difficult.
