Two-time Australian Group 1-winning mare Con Te Partiro (Scat Daddy) will return to the scene of where her unique story began when she goes under the hammer at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale in November.

The mare will contest a race during the Breeders’ Cup carnival and then be offered by Bedouin Bloodstock as a racing or broodmare prospect at the Keeneland sale, which gets underway on November 9.

The daughter of the late Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) was purchased by Cromwell Bloodstock for US$130,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and sent into training with Wesley Ward, for whom she won three races, headlined by a win in the Sandringham Handicap (Listed, 1m) at Royal Ascot in 2017.

Con Te Partiro was then purchased by SF Bloodstock and Newgate Farm for US$575,000 at the 2018 Fasig Tipton Kentucky November Mixed Sale and was then sent into training with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

She landed the Dark Jewel Classic (Gr 3, 1400m) on debut for the stable in May 2019 and after failing to get in foal to Zoustar (Northern Meteor) she was kept in training which turned out to be a blessing in disguise with the mare going on to win the Coolmore Classic (Gr 1, 1500m) and Queen of the Turf Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) last Spring.

“Con Te Partiro has excelled at the highest level of international racing while she has exemplified just how small the global Thoroughbred industry is,” Keeneland president-elect and interim head of sales Shannon Arvin said.

“We are thrilled to hold a Keeneland homecoming for Con Te Partiro. She sold as a yearling at the September Sale and she began her racing career here during the 2016 Spring Meet. We look forward to presenting her at the November Sale with all the fanfare she deserves.”

The six-year-old mare is out of five time winning Group 1 placed-Street Cry (Machiavellian) mare, making her a half-sister to Listed winner Donworth (Tiznow).

Tom Ryan of SF Bloodstock said the mare had exceeded all their expectations: “Con Te Partiro truly is a one-of-a-kind mare,” said Tom Ryan of SF Bloodstock.

“Her accomplishments on the track – including two Grade 1 wins in Australia, stakes victories at both the Royal Ascot and Saratoga race meets and successes on both dirt and turf – put her in an elite category of racehorses with the ability to perform at the highest level around the world.”
