A colt by Deep Field (Northern Meteor) clocked the fastest time in Inglis Ready2Race breeze up history, when he stopped the watch at 9.95 seconds at Warwick Farm on Friday.

Consigned by Blake Ryan Racing and offered as Lot 135, the colt is out of the American Listed winning Syncline (Danzig) mare Sugar Bay, who has already produced three winners.

Sugar Bay herself is a half-sister to fellow Listed winner Blurricane (Rebellion), meanwhile the colt’s third dam is Listed Autumn Slew (Slew O’Gold), who is a half-sister to Listed scorer Classic Result (Jade Hunter).

Ryan, this year’s Ready2Race leading vendor by numbers with 18 lots, was thrilled but not shocked by the speed of his Deep Field colt.

“He is an absolute jet, one of the sharpest horses I’ve ever sat on,’’ Ryan said.

“I said to a couple of people earlier in the day, half joking but half serious, ‘he’ll break 10 that Deep Field colt’ and they looked at me funny but he sure showed them.

“He’s got a great brain, he’ll canter around all day for you, you could nearly go chasing cattle on him but as soon as you ask him to go, he knows it’s go time and he produces. That’s what I like most about him, he knows when to switch off and knows when to switch on.’’

Ryan breezed 17 of his overall draft at Warwick Farm and was also responsible for the third fastest breeze of the afternoon, which was clocked by a colt by Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit), who breezed in a time of 10.18 seconds.

Catalogued as Lot 164, the two-year-old is out of unraced mare Zarakiysha (Kendor), making him a half-brother to Group 3-placed filly Zarzali (Hussonet), while further back the colt hails from the famous Aga Khan family of multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Zarkava (Zamindar).

Zarkava is the dam of fellow elite level winner Zarak (Dubawi) and Listed winner Zarkamiya (Frankel).

The second quickest time of the day was posted by a gelding by Newgate Farm’s first-season sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon), who breezed in a time of 10.17 seconds.

Offered by Glenn Haven Thoroughbreds and catalogued as Lot 35, the gelding is out Gosford Guineas (Listed, 1600m) winner Lady Sniper (Snippetson), while further back this is the same family as Listed-winning duo Easy Landing (Mister C) and Misty Dawn (Mister C).

Friday’s action followed breeze ups at Seymour and Eagle Farm earlier last week, for which the videos and photos are already available on the Inglis website, while videos for the Warwick Farm breeze-up will be available to view on Monday.
