The popularity of the first northern hemisphere crop of Coolmore Stud shuttler Churchill (Galileo) gathered even more momentum on Wednesday as Simon Crisford’s Gainsborough Thoroughbreds - who was working on behalf of Coolmore’s M V Magnier - signed the ticket for a filly by the stallion for 340,000gns.

Catalogued as Lot 1111, the filly was offered by Croom House Stud and she is out of the Grade 3-placed Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill) mare Pussycat Lips, who has already produced stakes-placed duo Special Purpose (Scat Daddy) and Roulston Scar (Lope De Vega).

Pussycat Lips herself is out of 2001 Eyrefield Stakes (Listed, 1m1f) winner On The Nile (Sadler’s Wells), who is a half-sister to three-time Group 1 winner Kutub (In The Wings), while she is also a sister to Listed winner In The Limelight.

"She is a lovely filly, very racy and athletic, and she showed herself off well," said Crisford. "MV Magnier really loved her, she will be for a Coolmore partnership."

Later on in the day, a colt by the shuttle stallion proved popular, with Sackville Donald shelling out 150,000gns for the yearling.

Catalogued as Lot 1141 and offered by Luke Barry’s Manister House Stud, the colt is out of placed Pivotal (Polar Falcon) mare Regency Girl, who has produced one winner in the shape of Group 3-placed Elizabeth Darcy (Camacho).

Regency Girl herself is out of Listed-winning Danehill (Danzig) mare Miss Pinkerton, whose eight winners is headed Group 3 scorer Precious Ramotswe (Nathaniel) and stakes-placed duo This Is The Day (Footstepsinthesand) and Vanity Rules (New Approach).

Further back this is the same family as multiple Group 1 winner and now Darley stallion Golden Horn (Cape Cross) and this year’s Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr 2, 1m4f) winner Frankly Darling (Frankel), who also finished third in this season’s Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f).

This is the fourth yearling by the stallion in Book 2 to break through the six figure barrier, and second to make over 300,000gns, after a filly on Monday was purchased by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 350,000gns.

At Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, 13 yearlings by Churchill realised 1,607,000gns at an average of 123,615gns, while during Book 2 of the sale he had 16 yearlings sell for a total receipts of 1,468,000gns at an average of 91,750gns, which is off a €35,000 stud fee.

Four-time Group 1 winner Churchill is currently covering his third book of mares at Jerrys Plains in the Hunter Valley at a fee of $19,250.
