A filly by former Windsor Park shuttler Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) proved popular on the third and final day at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale on Wednesday as Cormac McCormac - who was singing the ticket on behalf of MV Magnier - went to 325,000gns for the Parkway Farm-consigned filly.

The filly - who was catalogued as Lot 1215 - is out of winning Kalanisi (Doyoun) mare Simkana, making the filly a sister to Listed-placed Simannka, who now resides in Australia after being purchased by the late Paul Makin and Dermot Farrington for €200,000 at the 2016 Goff’s November Mares Sale.

Simkana is herself a daughter of Sinntara (Lashkari) and she also produced multiple Group 1-winning champion Sindaar (Grand Lodge) and stakes-placed Simawa (Anabaa), who in turn produced Group 3 winner Sinawann (Kingman) and Listed winner Silwana (Peintre Celebre).

"She has got a Ribchester filly foal and is in-foal to Zoffany,” said Breeder Denis McDonnell. “I bought Simkana out of the Aga Khan's after she had foaled Simannka. This is a nicer filly than Simannka. She was a grey filly, she was bought by Paul Makin for €200,000 and was shipped to Australia. She was supposed to be a Group filly, but Paul Makin died and she never ran."

Mastercraftsman shuttled to Windsor Park in New Zealand for four seasons and stood at Coolmore's Irish base for a fee of €25,000 in 2020.
