Following the announcement by the Irish government earlier this week that the country would be moving to its highest lockdown tier for six weeks on Wednesday, Goffs have rescheduled three of its sales that were due to take place over the coming weeks.

The November Foal and Breeding Stock sales will now be held in late December whilst the Autumn Horses In Training Sale will be held as a live online auction on its original date of November 5. The November Foal Sale will be held on December 18 - 20 and the Breeding Stock Sale will be held the following day, December 21.

The Autumn Yearling Sale, originally scheduled for November 4 - 5, will now be held on January 12 - 13.

Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said of the changes: "Like much of the rest of the country, we did not anticipate a move straight to Level 5 but we fully respect the decision and objectives of the government and understand that, in this timeframe, it would not be responsible to attempt to hold a sale.

"Therefore, in consultation this morning with the ITBA and Tattersalls, we reviewed every sale and selected what we believe is the best possible alternative to maximise the success for each category."
