A total of 1,104 lots have been catalogued for the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, with the dams of Group 1-winning pair Palace Pier (Kingman) and Pretty Gorgeous (Lawman) among some of the most exciting entries set to go under the hammer during the four-day sale which gets underway at Park Paddocks in Newmarket on November 30.

Catalogued as Lot 1731 and offered by Highclere Stud, Beach Frolic (Nayef) has produced winners, including the aforementioned Palace Pier and she will be offered in foal to Darley’s exciting shuttler Blue Point (Shamardal).

The mare is a half-sister to Group 2 winners Joviality (Cape Cross) and Bonfire (Manduro), whose three wins also include the 2015 Grafton Cup (Listed, 2350m).

Beach Frolic’s colt by Swettenham Stud shuttler Highland Reel (Galileo) was purchased by McCalmont Bloodstock for 320,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale earlier this month, while her weanling is by Cambridge Stud shuttler Almanzor (Wootton Bassett).

Meanwhile, Lady Gorgeous (Compton Place) - the dam of this year’s highest rated two-year-old filly Pretty Gorgeous - will be offered by Norelands Stud as Lot 1740

The mare is one of nine mares catalogued for the sale in foal to former Coolmore shuttle stallion No Nay Never (Sact Daddy) and alongside Pretty Gorgeous she is also the dam of Listed winner Alwaab (Toronado).

Her colt by Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) was purchased by SackvilleDonald for 250,000gns at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale this month and her weanling colt is by Coolmore Stud-based Zoffany (Dansili).

Lady Gorgeous herself is out of Listed winner Cayman Sunset (Night Shift) and she hails from the family of dual Group 1 winner Qemah (Danehill Dancer).

Commenting on the catalogue for the 2020 Tattersalls December Mares Sale, Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “The Tattersalls December Sale is Europe’s premier breeding stock sale, and this year’s catalogue, which features the final part of the Waddesdon Stud Dispersal and the partial dispersal from Floors Stud, has quality in abundance. The December Sale is the annual showcase for the very best breeding stock that Europe has to offer and is a sale which exerts an extraordinary influence on the global thoroughbred industry.

“The 2020 catalogue has outstanding consignments from many of the world’s leading owner/breeders and those buyers unable to make their annual pilgrimage to the sale will again be able to use the Tattersalls live internet bidding platform and telephone bidding facilities which have been a huge asset since we have been conducting sales under strict COVID - related rules and regulations.”
