It’s Magic - an unraced daughter of Coolmore Stud sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) - was purchased for 260,000gns by Michael Donohue of BBA Ireland on the first day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale, carrying a foal by former Coolmore shuttler Ten Sovereigns (No Nay Never).

Catalogued as Lot 1311, from the draft of Baroda Stud, the mare is out of Timber Country (Woodman) mare Magic Tree, who is famed for being the dam of 2014 Eclipse Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) winner and now Shadwell Stud-based sire Mukhadram (Shamardal).

Magic Tree herself is a daughter of Moyesii (Diesis), whose seven winners include Group 1-scoring duo Kirkless (Jade Robbery) and Mastery (Sulamani), while she is the grandam of Group 3 winner Magic Artist (Iffraaj).

Further back this is also the family of Mister Sea Wolf (Amadeus Wolf), who won twice at Group 2 level in Australia and Group 2-winning Woodside Park Stud shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit).

"She is a Galileo mare and we all know what Galileo mares can do," said Donohue. "She is a very good physical, is a mare who should be easy enough to cross and she is from a nice tough family. She has been bought for a client from the Middle East, who has a few mares in Ireland and she will probably go back to board at Baroda.”

Donohue said they were considering Siyouni (Pivotal) as a likely candidate for the mare, meaning the resulting foal will be bred on the same cross as this year’s Dewhurst Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) winner St Mark's Basilica and Sottsass, who won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr 1, 2400m) in October earning him a spot on the Coolmore Stud roster for 2021.

“We are thinking of a stallion such as Siyouni for her next year – Siyouni on Galileo worked so well this year. And she has a nice covering at the moment in Ten Sovereigns, he is an exciting horse,” said Donohue.
