Having spent $1,000,000 on a colt by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) on Wednesday at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Victorian Alliance, Suman Hedge and David Redvers added three more propositions to their portfolio on Thursday, spearheaded by a colt by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) who they secured for $950,000 from the draft of Coolmore Stud.

Catalogued as Lot 636, he colt is out of dual-winning stakes-placed Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) mare Petition, who is herself a daughter of Group 1 winner The Party Stand (Thorn Park) and this is also the same family as fellow elite level winner Callsign Mav (Atlante).

Hedge told Racing & Sports Bloodstock that he saw a lot of upside in the colt and was very happy to leave the sale with him.

"For us he was an outstanding physical, who was very athletic," said Hedge. "He looks very sharp on the walk and looked very precocious.

"He was not a massive horse, he was medium-sized and was extremely well-balanced with a lot of quality. He was high on our priority list of the horses we wanted to buy and we were very lucky to get him."

Hedge said he believed Foxwedge would turn out to be a good broodmare sire, which was one of many things that he found attractive in the yearlings' pedigree.

"There is a lot of depth to the horse's pedigree," said Hedge. "The dam was very sharp and I think with a bit of luck could have been a Group herself. She is by Foxwedge who we think is going to be a good broodmare sire. He is a very dominating stallion and leaves good types and this horse had a bit of his quality.

"But then you look back and The Party Stand is on the page and she was a Group 1 winner and multiple stakes-placed as well. He was the ideal prototype horse to purchase for this group and we are really over the moon we were able to get him."

A few lots earlier, the new outfit purchased another colt by the Yarraman Park-based sire for $400,000 and Hedge said he thought he would prove to be an autumn type of two-year-old.

"He is probably not as forward as the big purchase today, he is probably more of an autumn type of horse," said Hedge. "He was very correct and loved by our trainers, we had multiple trainers we are working with here who really liked him and as soon as he was knocked down to us we had them reaching out and asking if they could train the horse."

Offered as Lot 620, the colt is the first foal out of four-tme winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Overstep, who was placed at Listed level and was sold by Yarraman Park.

Further afield this is the same family as stakes winners Secret Liaison (Artie Schiller) and Speed Baby (Fastnet Rock).

Completing their purchases on day three of the Queensland sale, was a colt by Arrowfield Stud-based sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia), who they parted with $300,000 to secure.

Catalogued as Lot 420 and offered as part of the Edinburgh Park draft, the colt is out Listed-winning Commands (Danehill) mare Jester's Girl, making him a half-brother to stakes winner Assimilate (Sebring).

Jester's Girl herself is a daughter of Listed winner and Group 1-placed How Funny (Rory's Jester) and comes from the family of 2019 Caulfield Classic (Gr 3, 2000m) winner Thought Of That (So You Think).

Written Tycoon is enjoying the season of his life, headlined by Group 1-winning trio Ole Kirk, Pippie and Odeum and Hedge said he was surprised they were able to secure the colt for $300,000, having rated him in a slightly higher price bracket.

"We were really happy to get him, because we thought he would make quite a bit more money," said Hedge. "He is a medium-sized, athletic strong horse who is very precocious from a nice running family and we were delighted to get him as well. He has a lovely deep pedigree and we thought he was particularly well bought.

"The good thing with Written Tycoon more so than a lot of stallions, he does seem to mix well with a lot of different sire lines, but he has a particular affinity with the Danehill sire line, Flying Spur, Fastnet Rock, Redoute's Choice and Commands they are all desirable broodmares sires to mix with him."
