Kitchwin Hills' Mick Malone handed John Kelly's Newhaven Park a brilliant result at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Friday as he secured a colt by Arrowfield Stud-based Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) for $1,050,000.

Catalogued as Lot 852 the colt is out of stakes-placed Domesday (Red Ransom) mare Supara, meaning he is bred on the same cross as multiple Group 1 winner and now Widden Stud-based stallion Trapeze Artist.

Supara herself is out of stakes-placed Unbated (Encosta De Lago), making her half-sister to fellow stakes-placed pair Zac Kasa (Reset) and Win For Layla (Flying Spur).

Further back this is the same family as Listed winner Permai (Rory's Jester) - the dam of Group 3 scorer Permaiscuous (Danzero), who also finished second in the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m).

Malone said the Snitzel / Domesday cross was a big draw for them when buying the colt and he would be raced by a syndicate of owners.

"He is a beautiful horse, he's a lovely, lovely colt and he is going to (be raced) by a group of guys to spread a bit of risk, so to speak," Malone said.

"The minute I saw him, I loved him and we've had a bit of luck with the Snitzels. He just had that shape and that look and that Domesday cross, we know it works. He is from a really good farm."

Newhaven Park have had 18 lots over the four days sell for $3,500,000 at an average of $194,444 and Kelly told Racing & Sports Bloodstock the colt was the ultimate professional throughout the inspections and he was confident he would be well received by buyers.

"We are over the moon, we knew we had a lovely horse, but for him to make that price it is a great thrill," said Kelly.

"We always thought he was a beautiful horse and he is bred on the same cross as Trapeze Artist, no one ever thinks they have a $1,000,000 yearling, so we never thought that but we were always hopeful he would sell well.

"He has the most unbelievable nature of any yearling we have ever had at Newhaven and for the whole inspection process he has never put a foot out of line. He is the most beautiful horse. He took the whole thing in his stride. We are at the back end of the sale so he kept getting paraded and paraded and he was a gentleman the whole time.

"When you have those colts that just get smashed all week you are hoping they never let you down and he just never let me down all week. We are thrilled he is going to Gerald Ryan in Sydney for a syndicate that Mick Malone has put together, couldn't be happier."

Progeny of Snitzel have been well received by buyers throughout the week, with this being his second yearling to realise seven figures, with the first being the colt out of Bonny O'Reilly (O'Reilly), who was purchased by Tom Magnier on Tuesday for a sale-topping $1.9 million. Altogether the stallion has had 39 lots sell for an aggregate of $18,170,000 at an average of $465,897 and he is sitting second behind I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) by gross.
