Gross almost totals 2020 amount with one session of Book 1 left

After four days of selling 706 lots have sold for $180,130,000 which is $2,723,000 short of the 2020 sale aggregate when 709 yearlings sold for $177,407,000. The 2021 average of $255,142 is two per cent higher than a year ago when the figure was $250,211. The median remains constant at $180,000 whilst the clearance rate sits at 91 per cent, up from 87 per cent a year ago.

A total of 11 lots have now sold for $1,000,000 or more with four of those being by Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice).

“To have the statistics we have to the end of day four is quite phenomenal,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.

“We have eclipsed last year’s Book One gross with a night to go and both the average and clearance rate are holding.”

“There’s an insatiable thirst for the quality horses and the buyers are here in droves and they’re doing business.

“We’re looking forward to The Star Magic Millions Raceday tomorrow. There’s some huge fields out there and there’s a lot of anticipating heading into the day.”

“And then tomorrow night is a great part of the sale with great atmosphere and hopefully some good sales along the way,” Bowditch added.

Emirates Park lead the vendors table with six lots having sold at an average of $596,667. Tony Fung Investments and Phoenix Thoroughbreds are the leading buyer having spent $10,375,000 on 15 lots whilst Ciaron Maher Bloodstock has bought 32 lots for $9,495,000.

The now pensioned Arrowfield sire Not A Single Doubt is the leading sire by average with 16 lots having sold averaging $619,375.
