The catalogue for this year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is now available online. A total of 466 yearlings have been catalogued for this year’s sale, slightly down on last year when the catalogue comprised 514 lots, which will run over two days at Riverside from April 6 - 7.

Arrowfield Stud has the biggest draft with 49 entries followed by Coolmore (40), Widden (28), Segenhoe (23) and Yarraman Park (22).

Inglis’ general manager of bloodstock sales and marketing Sebastian Hutch said that an incredibly strong group of horses had been catalogued this year.

“The catalogue speaks for itself – it’s an incredibly strong collection of horses and it’s a privilege to be given the opportunity by our vendors to offer them for sale,” he said.

“Easter is synonymous with the best horses and the record of the sale stands up to the closest scrutiny – it’s the sale most likely to produce a top-class racehorse, whether it’s a stakes winning two-year-old, Group 1 colts or a Classic filly.’’

This year’s catalogue includes the siblings to 161 stakes winners headed 42 Group 1 winners including Exceedance (Exceed And Excel), Pierata (Pierro), Vow And Declare (Declaration Of War), Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa), Super Seth (Dundeel), She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain), Invincibella (I Am Invincible) and the progeny of 169 stakes-winning mares including 39 Group 1 in the likes of Pinot (Pierro), Catchy (Fastnet Rock), First Seal (Fastnet Rock), Srikandi (Dubawi), Politeness (Street Sense) and Snitzerland (Snitzel).

Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) is the most represented sire in this year’s sale with 53 yearlings, or 11 per cent of the catalogue, while there are 45 yearlings by Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) included and Pierro (Lonhro) has 35 yearlings catalogued. Other well represented sires include American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) (25), Dundeel (High Chaparral) (14), Fastnet Rock (Danehill) (17), Merchant Navy (17), Savabeel (Zabeel) (17), Written Tycoon (Iglesia) (18) and Zoustar (Northern Meteor) (33). There are also nine yearlings from the final crop of Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) and 11 by Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) who dominated at the Gold Coast earlier this month.

There is also the opportunity to buy yearlings from leading international sires with six youngsters by Juddmonte’s champion Frankel (Galileo) and four yearlings by Siyouni (Pivotal), Deep Impact has three lots, while Kingman (Invincible Spirit), Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha), Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado) and Tapit (Pulpit) all have yearlings included. In total, the sale includes the progeny of 57 different sires.

Recent Easter Yearling Sale graduates include The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice), Exceedance, Loving Gaby (I Am Invincible), Merchant Navy, Estijaab (Snitzel), Trapeze Artist (Snitzel), Russian Revolution (Snitzel), Personal (Fastnet Rock) and, since 2018, Inglis sales have produced 54 Group 1 winners and of those 28 that could have been purchased for $100,000 or less.

“The value at the sale is quite incredible when you consider the likes Exceedance, Funstar, Quick Thinker, Nettoyer and Arisita are amongst the top-class graduates in recent years that could have been bought at Easter for less than $200,000,” Hutch continued.

“It’s a genuinely exciting time to be involved in such a resilient and vibrant industry and we are looking forward to welcoming back to Easter in 2021 for what is going to be a fantastic occasion.”
