JGB pays NZ$39,000 for Valentine Lodge-consigned youngster
A colt by the ill-fated Waikato Stud-based sire Sacred Falls (O’Reilly) was the headline act of the New Zealand Bloodstock National Online Yearling Sale on Wednesday after JGB went to NZ$39,000 for the Valentine Lodge-consigned youngster.
Catalogued as Lot 26, the yearling is out of the winning Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Cheryl Moana Marie and she has already produced one winner.
Cheryl Moana Marie herself is out of unraced mare Zephyr Song (Danasinga), making her a half-sister to Group 3 winner Whistling Dixie (Pins) and as well as Listed scorer Atmosphere (Savabeel).
The colt’ third dam is Group 1 scorer Zepherin (Zephyr Bay) - the dam of Glenview (Sir Tristram), who in turn produced South African Grade 1 scorer Timber Trader (Woodman).
Meanwhile, Cambridge Stud were responsible for selling the second top lot of the day, as Power went to NZ$24,000 for a colt by the operation’s late stallion Tavistock (Montjeu).
Catalogued as Lot 10, the colt is out of five-time winning O’Reilly (Last Tycoon) mare Stella’s Honour, who is herself a half-sister to Listed-placed Moreton Bay (Zabeel).
Further back this is the same family as Group 2 winner Twiglet (Twig Moss) - the dam of elite scoring duo Fairy King Prawn (Danehill) and Easy Rocking (Barathea) as well as stakes winner Crevette (Danehill), who in turn produced dual Group 1 winner Cosmic Endeavour (Northern Meteor).
Overall, 24 yearlings sold for a total of NZ$181,650 at an average of N$7,568.75.
