Lady Paname (Soldier Of Fortune) - who landed the 2018 Long Island Stakes (Gr 3, 11f) at Aqueduct - was purchased by Chauvigny Global Equine for €120,000 at the Arqana February Mixed Sale on Monday.

Catalogued as Lot 160 and offered as part of the La Motteraye Consignment, the three-time winner is out of dual winner Business Class (Aussie Rules).

Business Class herself is a half-sister to Listed-winning pair Inside Man (Hawk Wing) and American Trilogy (Sendawar).

“We bought it for an association between Ecurie Drost and Ecurie Tygaly,” said Desmontils.

“We are delighted, she is a mare that we have been coveting for a while, we love her very much. She is going to go breeding and we will surely send her to No Risk At All.

Earlier in the day, Chris Richer Bloodstock, who was acting on behalf of Sage Stud, secured well-bred Listed winner Oh Beautiful (Galileo) for €85,000.

Consigned by Quesnay and catalogued as Lot 148, the mare was offered in foal to Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit), who sired is first northern hemisphere stakes winner on Sunday when King Shalaa (3 c ex Baki by Turtle Bowl) won the Prix de la Californie (Listed, 1600m) at Cagnes Sur Mer.

Four-time winner Oh Beautiful has produced two winners and she is a sister to stakes winner Freedom’s Light, while she is a three-quarter sister to Listed scorer Face The Facts (Nathaniel).

The mare’s second dam is Rahaam (Secreto) - who produced Cassandra Go (Indian Ridge) - the dam of Group 1 winner Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal).

Halfway To Heaven is the dam of Group 1-winning pair Magical (Galileo) and Rhododendron (Galileo).

Further back this is also the same pedigree as 2018 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Cross Counter (Teofilo).

“I bought her for the Austrian Stud Sage Stud,” said Richner.

“They have been in the business for over thirty years and they recently bought this stud which they completely renovated.

“This is the third year that they have come to the sales in Deauville in order to find quality mares.”

At the close of trade on Monday, Arqana reported 121 horses sold at a clearance 77.56 per cent. The aggregate was reported as €1,654,000, while the average closed at €13,669 and the median was €6,500.
