One-time winner Princess Isla - a daughter of Juddmonte Farms-based Frankel (Galileo) - was the headline act of the Arqana February Mixed Sale after Anne-Sophie Yoh of Yohea, who was acting on behalf of Haras de Hus’ Xavier Marie secured the mare for €110,000.

Catalogued as Lot 309 and consigned by Rouges Terres, the mare was offered in foal to Valachi Downs shuttler Ten Sovereigns (No Nay Never).

The mare is out of Group 3-placed Peinture Abstraite (Holy Roman Emperor), who is herself a daughter of Group 2 winner Peinture Bleue (Alydar).

Peinture Bleue herself also produced Group 1 winner and successful sire Peinture Celebre (Nureyev) as well as Group 2-winning pair Peinture Rare (Sadler’s Wells) and Pointilliste (Giant’s Causeway) and Listed scorer Peinture Rose (Storm Cat).

“I bought it for Mr. Xavier Marie from Haras de Hus,” said Yoh. “He is a new owner well known for having invested heavily in sport horses and is now investing in racehorses.

“We really like the origin of the mare and she is the only full of Ten Sovereigns, we are very happy. We do not yet know which stallion we will send her to, for the moment she is returning to Haras de Hus.”

A few lots later, Sylvain Vidal purchased Group 3-placed Jet Setteuse - a daughter of former Westbury Park shuttler Makfi (Dubawi) - for €95,000 from the Berlais draft.

The three-time winner was catalogued as Lot 315 and she is out stakes-placed mare Pretty Panther (Hurricane Run).

The mare is set for a date with Montfort et Preaux-based sire Le Havre (Noverre).

“She is a very beautiful mare, from a beautiful family of sprinters, who was a real warrior on the track,” said Vidal. “She should go to Le Havre.”

At the close of trade over the two days of trade, Arqana reported 261 horses sold at a clearance of 80.80 per cent. The aggregate was €3,028,000, while the average was €11,602 and the median was €5,500.
